Now it's time to say goodbye

Monty was a big inspiration to me. He had a dream, a creative vision, like many of us do. I remember in high school, when I was first learning how to draw, I remember having aspirations of being an “anime designer” or something along those lines. I wanted to create.

Monty proved it was possible. From nothing, he created a wonderfully colorful, fantastically fun, and absolutely inspirational series that the world has come to love. He proved that with hard work and determination, that you can do that, achieve what every other one of us only ever dreamed of before settling for a desk job.

To think that nothing new will ever come as a result of his passing will only do him dishonor. He showed us all that it is possible to go out there and create, he continually reiterated and encouraged us to do so. So let’s do that. Let’s all make something to wow the world. Let’s create a world where Monty can look down from heaven and smile, knowing that this was thanks to him.

I remember him speaking about how, even at his previous jobs, when he wasn’t working he was creating. We have to remember to set aside time and energy to be creative, even if it’s just a few minutes a day. i can never be too tired to just sit down and draw something. I hope that when I finally do get a job, I’ll still be able to keep on drawing.

He’s gone, but he left his mark on the world with a crimson scythe and a heart of gold. I couldn’t think of anyone who hated him. Monty was a genuinely nice guy, never doing anything to piss anyone off on purpose. The world lost something when he went, but he taught us all, so let’s not forget his lessons.
